Production process
Water as solvent extraction
8 times of 1% sodium hydroxide solution of 0.175-.036 mm of turmeric powder for 60-75min at 70-80℃, filtered slag and then extracted twice. The solvent dosage and time can be reduced in turn. The filtrate was merged three times, and 0.8% sodium bisulfite solution was added. After concentration, the PH was adjusted to 3-4 with hydrochloric acid. After standing and stratifying, the supernatant was discarded, and the lower precipitate was extracted and filtered into a semi-solid mixture of curcumin, turmeric oil and turmeric resin. The mixture was dissolved in 70% ethanol at 70℃, and the turmeric resin insoluble in ethanol was removed by filtration while the filtrate was hot. The turmeric oil was extracted from the filtrate by petroleum ether extraction. The petroleum ether phase was distilled under reduced pressure to recover petroleum ether to obtain turmeric oil, and the ethanol phase was distilled under reduced pressure to obtain curcumin. The yield can reach 0.5%-1.5%.
Organic solvent extraction
Curcumin 95% powder can be dissolved in ethanol, diethyl ether, acetone or dichloromethane and other solvents. One of them can be selected, usually ethanol, to extract curcumin and curcumin oil from 0.16-0.32mm turmeric powder. After separation and concentration, the curcumin oil can be separated by petroleum ether extraction.
